Youth in our community achieving the highest levels of Education and Economic opportunities
There is empirical evidence which suggests that the education equity gap will continue to widen if we do not invest in our young boys of color or BIPOC (Black and indigenous people of color) males. The Breakfast Group Project MISTER (BGPM) utilizes a life course approach aimed at healing the educational equity gap and racial divide by providing young BIPOC men with guidance, structure, understanding and love. Investing in the community is key to the survival of the community. TBG Project MISTER curriculum prepares young people to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood. The Project MISTER model provides our youth in-school and out-of-school educational activities with African American facilitators who look like them.
We recognize the need for similar programs that are focused on young BIPOC women, which is why we develop collaborative events with organizations that specialize in supporting them.

Our aim is to provide quality services to young men in our community through programs that support them with Mentorship, College Readiness and Career Enhancement, Scholarships, and College Attendance & Graduation.
Since its inception in 1976, the Breakfast Group has worked to improve the quality of life for at-risk young BIPOC men. It has assisted over 3500 young men. Through our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion speaker series that began in 2019, the program has provided 200 professionals to speak with students about career paths at over 50 schools, including K-12 and high schools in Seattle and Kent (WA), Chicago (IL), and Washington DC. With a 60% drop in absenteeism across the program, over 90% of your young men graduate from High School.
College readiness, career enhancement and skills for success are the core pillars of Project MISTER. Community engagement and educational activities, such as the Diversity Career Celebrations, and corporate site visits provide the enrichment needed to encourage students to pursue higher education and career endeavors.
Students are encouraged to participate in our Tie Design contest. Students present designs for ties and their submissions have generated over $10,000 in merchandise sales for the organization. These funds along with the generous assistance of our corporate sponsors and fundraisers such as the Tie-One -On have allowed the Breakfast Group to provide over $600,000 in scholarship funds.
Our graduates have attended and graduated from several of the most prestigious colleges and universities across America, including the University of Washington, Seattle University, Washington State University, United States Military Academy (West Point) as well as numerous Historical Black Colleges (HBCU) to include Morehouse and Prairie State universities.
